This is my first attempt at a 40's style Pinwheel doll quilt. The finished quilt measured 16.5" X 20.5", the finished block size was 4" X 4". I turned one of the blocks into a pretty pillow using coordinating Christmas fabrics. I stuffed a mattress and tied the center in 6 places. I included a little eyelet nightie with the bed, to fit an 18" doll. The entire bed was raffled off at St. Mark's church Christmas bazaar this year. We sold over 200 chances for it, which made me happy since it all goes to the church. The woman who won it was a friend of my grandmothers. That sealed the deal for me!

Christmas 2008 bazaar crafts

So this year I decided to get more involved with my church's Christmas bazaar. I have been, as of recently, a member of our Episcopal Church Women's group and since they are directly responsible for the bazaar my mother and I decided to operate the ornament table with my grandmother on my fathers side. The projects that I think I enjoyed the most were the Angels. We made the muslin bodies and then used reproduced vintage hankies for the dresses and adorned the heads with ribbons and made faces. Each angel came out different and they all sort of took on their own personality. We made 6 in all. My favorite was the sewing angel!
