A chilly adventure!

Well, we finally did it! Our family has been talking about cutting down our own Christmas trees for years and finally this year, my mother is 60 and grandma is 80, we took the trip up to our cabin in Windham and we cut down our very own trees.

It was a wonderful trip up. As soon as we got to the cabin it began to snow very lightly. We saw from across the valley to the other side of the mountain that a snow cloud was coming our way.

We bundled up and headed towards the right-of-way on our property. I scouted out some trees this fall and knew that there were some nice specimens up there. We all trudged over the field and picked out our favorites. Grandma picked out a small Hemlock and I headed toward the Pines. Autumn and I liked this one the best!

Dad liked this one...

After we all had our trees picked out and cut down we headed towards the cabin, warm and inviting with the stove burning brightly awaiting our return. None of us thought we would make it to 10 pm before getting too tired. We stayed in and hung by the fire all night, going early to bed.

I think we all decided to make this an annual trip up to get our trees. We brought all the left-overs from our Thanksgiving feast and we ate another great meal in the cabin. Driving home the next day was kind of sad. We never just stay one night, but we all knew that our lives were waiting for us at home.

Next year I hope that Steven can join us, as he had to stay home for work this time. Who buys lumber the day after Thanksgiving anyway? Every one's out buying Christmas presents!!!

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday feast. Looking forward to Christmas now more than ever!
